The journey began more than 70 years ago when Chevrolet built the first Suburban - and the first-ever SUV. Through the years, Suburban has continued to raise the bar. The latest Suburban not only eclipses all previous models with its massive capabilities. It also betters every other SUV in its class, with a towing capacity of up to 4355 kg (9600 lb.) on 2500 2WD models,** and a cavernous 3891 L (137.4 cu. ft.) rear cargo area. It is powered by technologically advanced Vortec V8 engines. With enhanced driver control provided by the StabiliTrak™ electronic stability control system, and a comprehensive approach to safety that includes OnStar* and an available rear-view camera system, it's the full-size SUV that all others continue to follow: 2008 Chevrolet Suburban.
 
Loaded With Power
How does Suburban 2500 deliver best-in-class** towing capacity? It begins under the hood with its standard Vortec 6.0L V8 mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine's output is 352 hp and a trailer-friendly 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine features variable valve timing that optimizes combustion timing to maximize torque and enhance efficiency.
 
The Greater The Stability, The Safer The Ride
Enhanced stability is an integral part of Suburban's safety package. The standard StabiliTrak™ electronic stability control system detects a lateral skid, and then intervenes automatically by adjusting brake pressure and engine power to help return your vehicle to its intended driving line. Proactive Roll Avoidance is included to reduce a vehicle's tendency to roll over in a panic situation.
